Something like this works. You can start and stop the time and then print a report.

For our ambient monitoring, we purchased the following: https://www.lascarelectronics.com/easylog-el-sie-1

It is inexpensive, and simple to use. We purchase a new device with calibration certificates each year (purchased separately), as it's more cost efficient to do it this way than to add these devices into our annual calibration service. I have not attempted to get this reimbursed or paid for specifically by the sponsor, however I do justifying this cost (along with our refrigerator/freezer temperature monitoring)  into the overall start-up costs when negotiating the budget.
